highly rewarding, trek passes alongside a snow-capped mountain range
and through the Apurimac Canyon, one of the deepest canyons in the
world. Along the trail, one experiences a wide range of ecosystems.
Trekkers pass through the steep, dry terrain of the canyon, down to
the raging Apurimac River, and back up the other side of the canyon to
the ruins among lush, tropical vegetation.

En las alturas y muy cerca de
majestuosas cumbres nevadas del maravilloso, accidentado y provocativo
territorio Peruano se encuentran las muy bien conservadas ruinas de
Choquequirau.
Este complejo arqueológico data aproximadamente del año 1500, está
construido a base de piedra y ocupa una extensión de 2 hectáreas
aunque en zonas cercanas a él, se han identificado la presencia de
otros sitios arqueológicos de la misma época, conformados por
sistemas de andenerías, viviendas y caminos peatonales que atraviesan
diversos pisos ecológicos, articulando ciudades nucleadas y centros
ceremoniales, lo que en forma conjunta podría llegar a ser hasta 4
veces más grande que la ciudadela de Machu Picchu.
Esta ciudadela se encuentra ubicada a más de 3,000 metros sobre el
nivel del mar y fue construida en los pliegues de una meseta andina,
lo que facilita una extraordinaria vista hacia la vertiente del río
Blanco, el cañón del Apurimac (el más profundo del planeta con una
profundidad de 4691 metros en su desnivel mas profundo) y el nevado
Salcantay con 6264 metros sobre el nivel del mar.
El trayecto se inicia en el hermoso pueblo de Cachora en el
departamento de Apurimac a una hora de su capital Abancay y a cuatro
horas de viaje desde la ciudad del Cusco.

Situated in the Andes, in close
proximity to the majestic snow-capped mountaintops of the awesome,
rugged, challenging Peruvian landscape, are the well-preserved
Choquequirau ruins.
This archaeological complex, which spreads out over five acres, dates
back approximately to the year 1500 A.D. and is built of rock. Nearby,
other archaeological sites from the same era have been identified.
They have sidewalk systems, houses, and pedestrian trails that spread
through several ecological layers, connecting cities with nearby
ceremonial centers, which altogether could turn out to be up to four
times larger than the Machu Picchu citadel.
This citadel is located almost 10,000 feet above sea level and was
built above the folds of an Andean plateau, which provides an
extraordinary view of the Rio Blanco Basin, of the Apurimac Canyon (
reaching the deepest vertical point in the world at 15,400 feet) and
of Mount Salcantay.
The trail begins in the beautiful town of Cachora, in the Department
of Apurimac, one hour away from its capital, Abancay, and four hours
away from the city of Cusco.
We are building a hotel in the town of Cachora that will offer
tourists facilities and amenities before and after their visit to this
magical, mystical region of beautiful Peru.

des Andes, et très près des sommets enneigés majestueux des
paysages magnifiques, accidentés et provocants du Pérou se trouvent
les ruins bien conservées de Choquequirau.
Ce complexe archéologique qui
date vraisemblanblement de I'année 1500 est construit de pierres et
occupe deux hectares. D'autres sites archéologiques ont été
identifiés dans des zones à proximité de ce complexe. IIs datent de
la meme période, ils ont des réseaux de trottoirs, des maisons, et
des sentiers pédestres qui s'étendent à travers plusieurs couches
écologiques, connectant les villes avec les centres cérémoniels
tout proches, qui dans leur ensemble pourraient etre jusqu'à quatre
fois la grandeur de la citadelle de Machu Picchu.
Cette citadelle se trouve à plus
de 3,000 mèters au-dessus du niveau de la mer et était construite
sur les plis d'un plateau andin, qui offre une vue extraordinaire du
